The Desert // Long Sleeve
The desert will always hold a piece of my heart. Our first journey to southern Utah was with my family when I was five years old. We went back every sprint break all of middle and high school. We’d always camp the whole time and end up so sandy, sweaty, and absolutely delighted by the end of our trips.
I haven’t been in a few years now, but I’ve been 20+ times to that little slice of orange, sandy heaven.
As I have more responsibilities and less time to spend sleeping in a tent out of service for days and weeks at a time, I recognize just how special those times really were. I hear things have changed a lot in the few years since I’ve been, another reminder that nothing stays the same.
I made this shirt to bring me back to those sun soaked days. It reminds me of my little tomboy self. My plen air sessions in the desert. Long hikes and sweaty bike rides and tired legs and listening to our good friend play guitar around the campfire beneath the most stars you can imagine.
I hope it brings up good memories for you too.
Thanks Frontline Design for making my vision come to life. I know this one was HARD to screen print (especially those prickly pears on the sleeves!) but I think it was worth it :) It combines Delicate arch, the la sals, the view from sunrise arch, plus some classic sandstone from a photo I took on Captain Ahab, and my beloved prickly pear cactus.
Rachel is wearing the M but loves the L for a more oversized fit.
